Surrounded by great expectations, Bodegas Viña Vilano has launched at Dusseldorf international fair, ProWein 2018, its two new wines: Vilano and La Baraja.
Blending the essence of tradition with the magic of innovation, these two wines will continue consolidating the premium positioning of Viña Vilano around the world. Vilano and La Baraja 2015 are the result of a great period of work and investigations to get a contemporary winemaking with an innovative spirit and commitment to quality.
LA BARAJA
It shows a contemporary profile by combining the traditional Tinta Fina grapes from our old vines together with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, from DO Ribera del Duero highlands
WINEMAKING: (75% )Tempranillo, (15%) Cabernet Sauvignon and (10%) Merlot. Malolactic fermentation. Aged for 18 months in medium toast French oak barrels.
TASTING NOTES: Deep ruby red color. On the nose it has ripe red fruit, black cherry, black currant and blackberry tones, along with black pepper, tobacco, liquoriced, vanilla and violet notes. It is an elegant and full bodied wine with ripe tannins and a long and persistent finish.
VILANO
This wine has been elaborated with grapes coming from the prestigious Pago del Vilano, located in Pedrosa del Duero.
WINEMAKING: 100% Tempranillo. Malolactic fermentation. Aged for 24 months in medium toast French oak barrels. Handpicked extreme low grape yield.
TASTING NOTES: Deep cherry red color with violet hints , clean and bright. On the nose, it has bold berry and black-cherry aromas come with equal amounts of overt oak and coconut scents. It has intense but manageable tannins that create a powerful but rocky mouthfeel. Flavors of coconut, vanilla, blackberry and chocolate.
