Bodegas Viña Vilano has got a new international recognition. The North American publication Wine Enthusiast, one of the most important in the wine sector, has awarded a really good score to Terra Incógnita, the emblematic wine of this winery.
Terra Incógnita is made thanks to handpicked harvest of centenary vineyards, after its fermentation in small stainless steel tanks and malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels. It has been aged for 22 months in French oak barrels and 12 months in the bottle.
This wine presents a ripe red cherry color with garnet-colored rim, dense and opaque. It is Intense on the nose; it exhibits a nice bouquet of candied black fruits and spices like star anise, clove and vanilla blended with slightly toasted nuances from its ageing in oak barrels. In the mouth it is meaty and yummy with velvety and sweet tannins. It shows the most representative expression of the truly character of Ribera de Duero wines
In addition, Wine Enthusiast has mentioned Terra Incógnita within its outstanding section “Cellar Selection”, positioning in this way Terra Incógnita wine as the elite of Ribera del Duero. This designation is attributed to high quality wines which can be considered as collectibles. The famous wine critic, Michael Schachner, highlights “A chocolaty, well-oaked nose with minerality and core cassis aromas is contradicted by a juicy palate with bright acidity and tension“.
All this information shows how this Viña Vilano single vineyard wine is consolidated as one of the best wines in Ribera del Duero.
